![]() Or if necessary, press it 2 or 3 times like I had to. So the lesson here is, if your DIRECTV DVR isn’t responding or is otherwise locked up, look for the red reset button and press it. Thank you for being a valued DIRECTV customer.Ī little late but at leasted they owned up to the problem. Our promise is to provide you with the best television experience, and to resolve any issues that might arise as quickly as possible. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this technical issue has caused. There’s nothing further that you need to do. DIRECTV has fixed the problem and automatically reset the receivers. You may have experienced a transmission glitch to your DIRECTV service. Not aloneĪpparently, I wasn’t the only one with this problem because this email arrived in my inbox the following day: It wasn’t until the third reboot that my DVR finally started working again. Having to reboot a second time didn’t.įor the record, the second reboot didn’t work either. One press of the red reset button and the DVR started rebooting. Open the door to the card slot and voila, you’re in business. This button is located on my DVR in the card slot at the very bottom right of the receiver. It took me a minute, but I finally found this: I dreaded having to blindly fish for the power cord to reboot once again but then I remembered hearing something about a reset button on DIRECTV DVRs. Pretty cool I thought, until I realized that as soon as I acknowledged the message everything locked up again. Cool update, not so cool that it still didn’t work When it finally finished rebooting a few minutes later, I was presented with a message letting me know that I had received a new software update and that my DVR was now 3D-ready. Luckily it worked and the DVR started rebooting. Unfortunately for me, this means pulling out equipment and blindly reaching for the power cord behind the DVR. I’m still fairly new to the DIRECTV DVRs so I figured like TiVo there was no way to reboot the DVR unless I unplugged it and plugged it back in. This always frightens me as I have yet to find an easy and reliable way to backup the files (shows) on my DVR like I would with my computer. ![]() Nearly all the newer receivers (HR24 and up) have All Seasons enabled, with likely more added to that list as DIRECTV streamlines the feature’s functionality.Earlier this week, my DIRECTV DVR completely locked up. So, for example, if different episodes of the same series aired exclusively on TNT and A&E, they’ll ALL show up in the “All Seasons” window. So, get your popcorn ready, find a comfy seat and binge-watch away.Ī nice perk of the feature is it includes all the episodes aired on different channels. Hit play and the continuous play option will get activated, meaning at the conclusion of the episode, the next automatically starts. After you select the navigation button, simply browse by episode and season. Of course, not every series is included, but in our tests, a surprisingly large percentage of them have the feature enabled. At the very top of the navigation bar on the left, if available, “All Seasons” will show up. Then “Smart Search” for a particular series. Since it’s not tied to a particular channel or individual program listing, to access the feature, first hit the “Menu” button on your remote. Akin to Netflix’s playback, All Seasons lets you sequentially watch ALL the episodes/seasons of your favorite shows. If you’re a binge-watcher, this one should be right up your alley. ![]() With respect to compatible DVRs, it’s the same list as above (HR24 non-Genie and HR34 & above) All Seasons Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation. Double-click DIRECTVPlayer.pkg to start installation. Find the DIRECTVPlayer.dmg file in your Downloads folder and open it. If prompted, select Install DIRECTV Player. For a fairly new feature, that’s quite a good number and expect its channel list to eclipse 100 by next year. Click a movie or show you want to watch and follow the prompts to watch online. As with the 72-Hour Rewind feature, only a select pack of channels currently support the feature (72 channels as of this writing). If so, the feature is available – hit the Rewind button on your remote and it’ll automatically start at the beginning, even if there’s only a minute left in the show. To use it, simply check if a left-pointed curled arrow shows next to an episode listing. Restart the ProgramĪ nice complement to Rewind, the Restart feature conveniently and easily lets you do one thing: jump back to the start of a currently-playing program. Only fairly new DIRECTV receivers let you access the feature: HR24 for non-Genie receivers and HR34 and higher for Genie DVRs (Genie Minis join in on the fun too :). Expect more to be added in the coming months/years. Being a relatively new feature, only 52 channels (A&E, Bravo, CBS, Comedy Central, E!, History, History, Lifetime, MTV, NBC, TNT, Travel, Univision, USA, etc.) are currently included in the feature. ![]()
